What services does Heartland Insulation offer?

We specialise in residential, commercial, and rural insulation services. This includes supply and installation, retrofit upgrades, safe removal of old or damaged insulation, ground moisture barriers, and thermal efficiency assessments.

What types of insulation do you install?

We install glasswool, polyester, blown-in options (where appropriate), and rigid underfloor solutions. We recommend the best material for your building type, climate zone, and budget.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. We provide free, no-obligation quotes. A team member will assess your property and provide a tailored recommendation and price.

Is a deposit required?

Yes. A 50% deposit is required before scheduling work or ordering materials. The balance is due within 7 days of completion or invoice date.

Do your services come with a warranty?

Yes. We provide a 12-month workmanship warranty. Many products also carry manufacturer warranties, typically 10 to 50 years depending on the brand and product.

How long does installation take?

Most residential jobs are completed in 1–2 days, depending on size and access. Larger commercial or multi-unit projects may take longer. We will confirm a timeframe during quoting.

Do I need to leave the house during installation?

Usually no. We work efficiently and keep areas tidy. We may request access to the roof space, subfloor, or specific rooms while work is underway.

Can you remove old or damaged insulation?

Yes. We safely remove and dispose of old, damaged, or non-compliant insulation, including material affected by moisture or pests. We follow best practice for safe handling and disposal.

Will insulation reduce my energy bills?

Yes. Effective insulation reduces heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer, which lowers heating and cooling costs year-round.

Do you work with landlords and property managers?

Yes. We regularly upgrade rentals to meet Healthy Homes Standards. We provide compliance documentation and photos for tenancy records.

Are your materials compliant with the NZ Building Code?

Yes. All products we install meet or exceed the New Zealand Building Code. Our installations follow NZS 4246 guidance for energy efficiency and safety.

What happens if I cancel after paying the deposit?

If materials have not been ordered and work has not been scheduled, a partial refund may be possible. Once materials are ordered or labour is allocated, the deposit is generally non-refundable.

When are refunds processed?

Approved refunds are processed on the last business day of the month and returned to the original payment method unless agreed otherwise in writing.

What areas do you service?

We service the South Island, including Christchurch, Ashburton, Oamaru, Twizel, Tekapo, Dunedin, Wanaka, Queenstown, Hokitika, Westport, and Greymouth.

Can you help with Healthy Homes compliance?

Yes. We assess insulation against Healthy Homes requirements, complete top-ups or replacements, install ground moisture barriers where required, and provide compliance certificates.

What should I do to prepare for installation?

Please ensure clear access to the roof hatch, subfloor entry, and installation areas. Remove fragile items where work is taking place. We will advise if anything specific is needed.

Is there a risk of asbestos in older homes?

Homes built before 2000 may contain asbestos-containing materials. If we suspect a risk, we pause work and recommend licensed testing and removal before proceeding.

Does insulation also reduce noise?

Yes. Acoustic products for internal walls and mid floors help reduce sound transfer between rooms and levels for a quieter interior.

Are your installers trained and certified?

Yes. Our team is trained to NZS 4246 best practice and follows WorkSafe NZ health and safety requirements on every site.

Do you offer commercial or industrial insulation?

Yes. We insulate offices, retail, warehouses, schools, and multi-unit developments. We can work to specific R-values and acoustic requirements.

Do you handle insulation for new builds?

Yes. We work with homeowners, builders, and architects to install ceiling, wall, and underfloor insulation to specification and schedule, with full documentation for inspections.

How do I know if I need a top-up?

If your home feels draughty, power bills are high, or the insulation is thin, patchy, or over 10 years old, you may need a top-up or replacement. We offer assessments to confirm.

What R-values do you recommend?

We recommend R-values based on your climate zone and build type, aligned with the New Zealand Building Code. We will specify suitable products during quoting.

Do you offer finance or payment plans?

On larger projects we may offer staged payments by arrangement. Talk to us about your budget and timeline, and we will try to accommodate.

What happens after installation?

We tidy the site, walk you through what was installed, and provide product details, warranty information, and a workmanship warranty. Compliance documentation is supplied where required.

Can insulation cause condensation or mould?

Correctly installed insulation reduces condensation risk. Poor ventilation can still cause moisture issues, so we may recommend moisture barriers or improved airflow where needed.

Do you remove waste and packaging?

Yes. We remove job-related waste, including old insulation and packaging, and dispose of it responsibly. We recycle where possible.

Can I insulate just one area of my home?

Yes. You can insulate the ceiling, underfloor, walls, or a specific room as a staged approach, and expand later as budget allows.
