The Healthy Homes Standards set minimum requirements for rental properties in New Zealand. They cover insulation, heating, ventilation, moisture ingress and drainage, and draught stopping. Heartland Insulation helps landlords and property managers meet the insulation requirements quickly, safely and compliantly, with documentation supplied for tenancy records.

Insulation Requirements at a Glance
Rental homes must have effective ceiling and (where applicable) underfloor insulation. Insulation must be in reasonable condition, with no gaps, damage or excessive compression.
Minimum R-values (Ceiling)
| Climate Zone | Minimum Ceiling R-value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Zones 1–2 | R2.9 | Top-ups or replacement may be required if existing insulation is below spec or degraded. |
| Zone 3 | R3.3 | Colder areas typically require higher ceiling R-values. |
